Shawna van Scoyoc, Psy.D

Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Shawna van Scoyoc earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Natal in South Africa. She earned her master’s degree from the George Washington University in Washington DC and her Doctor of Psychology from Rutgers, New Jersey. She completed her neuropsychology internship at Rochester Institute of Technology, prior to her two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Nemours Children’s Health. She is an active member in numerous local and national professional neuropsychological organizations and a foreign member of the South African Clinical Neuropsychology Association.

Dr. van Scoyoc is a clinical neuropsychologist who evaluates brain-behavior relationships across all stages of life, from early childhood through older adult. Her work focuses on how thinking, behavior, emotions, and daily functioning are affected by brain development, brain injury, neurological illness, and aging. She specializes in the assessment of a broad range of attention, learning, and neurological disorders, such as ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, intellectual disability, concussion, TBI, and psychiatric conditions.  She also provides clinical assessment to adults and older adults who are suffering from a range of neuropsychological concerns including neurodegenerative conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

As a mother and a clinical neuropsychologist, Dr. van Scoyoc recognized a significant gap in access to neuropsychological services in our area. She opened her private practice to help meet this need and to provide families with timely, comprehensive evaluations without having to travel long distances or face extended wait times.

Dr. van Scoyoc lives in Rehoboth Beach with her husband, two daughters, and her husky, Kaia. During her free time, she enjoys the local cuisine, plays pickle ball, and spends time with her family.
